The Last 10 days

The last 10 days has had the full quota of ups and downs where badminton is concerned. Close victories, narrow defeats, frustration and a walloping.
The 1st mixed entertained Carlton in what was as close to a must win match as you could get. Missing Jackie and Nat, the away side had a little bit to much and condemed the 1st team to their 5th straight defeat. They can't buy a victory this season and unless they turn theor fortunes round in the last two matches V Mansfield Oaktree and Bryon, it will be a second straight relegation.
The second ladies, again robbed of key players due to unavailability, went down 8-1 away at Crusader. Lisa and Julie taking the solitary rubber.
Can was looking to build on what has been a promising season for the 3rd mens. Against a strong Roll 3rd team, they were unlucky to lose 5-4, with Faisal and Rob Pentecost the outstanding performers taking a maximum.
Rob again led the way with a maximum as his 5th mixed team scrapped through against Crusader (a bit of revenge for the ladies match) Mike and Tess played well taking 2 and despite not winning a rubber, young Aylish showed why she will be a very good player for the club in years to come (we hope)
