Season Opener

For the first time in 3 seasons the opening match of the season was the 1st mens vs 2nd mens. It promised to be a close affair, with the club adding considerable depth to the mens squad this season. Two of those additions, Campbell Wilson and Sunny Ram, made there debuts for the 1st and 2nd teams respectively.
With Andy Tyas taking up a new role with the third team, Campbell was paired with Matt Haigh in a new 'untested' partnership. The rest of the 1st team looked familiar to all those watching.
The 2nd team shuffled their pairs, with Sunny partnering James Bass, Con partnering captain Andy W and Paul paired with Rob P.
With close games throughout, the 2nd team were unlucky not to register a rubber on the board, Con and Andy playing exceptional.
A 9-0 final outcome looks an easier victory than it actually was. But the experienced pairs of Ian/Andy, Steve/Craig well backed up by the new pairing of Matt and Campbell made the difference.
On this performance the 2nd team should easily maintain their status in this division and hopefully cause a few minor upsets along the way.
