A familiar tale for the 1st mixed....

After a year in exile (division 2) the 1st mixed were back in division 1 hoping to exorcise the demons of 2 years previous....
Unfortunately elements of those demons still remain...
Facing a strong University division 3 side, who had also got re promted last season from the parallel divsion, Steve went for virtually the same side as last season, the only difference was Jodie, deputising for Nat Wright:
Craig/Lou
Andy/Jackie
Steve/Jodie
2-1 up after three rubbers, with Andy/Jackie, Craig/Lou making light work. It quickly turned into 4-3 down going into the final two rubbers. Andy and Jackie took the 8th rubber but Craig and Lou could not beat the Uni 1st pair (who in fairness were a very good pair)
So a 5-4 loss, bringing back bad memories of two years ago. Steve and Jodie will be disappointed not to have took the one rubber that would have made the difference.
NB. Probably the slowest hall and shuttles i've ever played with, Bingham is tradiotionally slow but this place was something else!
